My name is Amanda Miller, and I am a senior biochemistry major from Plano, Texas. I am the president of Eta Omicron Nu (HON), the official organization of the Texas Tech Honors College. I serve as a teaching assistant for Honors General Chemistry, an Undergraduate Research Scholar, an officer of the CISER Scholar Service Organization, and an Honors College Bayless Mentor. I also hold membership in the Double T Health Service Corps and the American Chemical Society. Some of my most meaningful experiences at Texas Tech include volunteering at the TTU Therapeutic Riding Center and shadowing an orthopedic surgeon at Covenant Children’s Hospital. My biggest accomplishment as an undergraduate was becoming one of 240 students to receive the 2017 Barry Goldwater Scholarship, a prestigious national award given to students who demonstrate outstanding research experience and the potential to lead a successful career in math, science, or engineering. Following my bachelor’s degree, I plan to pursue an M.D./Ph.D. and practice medicine as a pediatric surgeon.
